Tami Bingham Cooley, 53, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, dearly loved by her family and friends, passed away after a 1 year battle with breast cancer.
Tami was born February 13, 1960 in Fresno, CA, to Charles Bartlett Bingham and Betty Joe Phillips Bingham. She is survived by her husband of 30 years Chuck Cooley, her daughter Candace Payne, son Chad Cooley, son-in-law Jared Payne and granddaughter Alexis Payne; her siblings Penny(Dan) Johnston, Tobi(Scott) Sanders, Terri Lorz, Vicki(Glenn) Hinton, Tab(Pam) Bingham, Helmut(Lark) Bambl and Craig Hanis. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Candy Hanis.
She grew up in Clovis, CA where she learned to swim, play tennis, water ski, snow ski, horseback ride and everything in between. She loved being outdoors and from a young age she had a love for animals which carried on for the rest of her life. In 1975, when she was 15 her parents moved to Saudia Arabia and Tami went with them. She had the opportunity to travel through the Middle East, India, Africa and Europe with her younger sister Vicki and her parents. In 1981 she moved to Provo, UT where she met the love of her life. She married Charles(Chuck) Hawkes Cooley in the Salt Lake City, UT Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 25, 1982. After one year in Provo UT, and her first child in April 1983, the family moved to Chicago, IL for the next 6 years while Chuck attended dental school and an Orthodontic residency. In February 1989 another child joined the family and then in June 1989 the family settled in Redding, CA, a place they would call home for the next 24 years.
Tami had a great love for life. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend and most of all granny. She was an extremely talented gardener, and loved to spend her days outside in her yard. She had a great talent for tennis, snow skiing and water skiing. She also had a deep love for her animals and any other animal that crossed her path. She rescued many animals in her life, from cats, hawks, birds to bunnies and even a black dog that later became part of the family as JoJo.
Tami and her family were active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For the past 22 years she has been a member of the Redding 5th Ward and served faithfully in many capacities. She served as Relief Society president, Primary president, Sunday School Teacher, and Laurels leader. She served faithfully with love and tenderness for everyone she came in contact with. She had an amazing love for the Lord and an unshakable faith.
She was loved by everyone she came in contact with, especially her family and will be missed greatly.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday April 13 at 11AM at the LDS Chapel, 3410 Churn Creek Rd. Friends may visit on Friday, April 12 at the Allen and Dahl Funeral Chapel 2655 Eureka Way from 1-5 PM. There will be a viewing for family 1 hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful doctors, nurses, friends and family that helped Tami during her courageous battle.
