Arnold Reed Obituary

Arnold A. "Arnie" Reed, 76, of Redding, past away on August 12, 2010. Arnie was born on September 13, 1933 in Riverside, CA to Eileen Tesler and Vern Reed. He is survived by his two brothers, Allan Reed of Wyoming and Larry Tesler of Riverside. He had two daughters, Colleen Kohnen (husband Thomas) of Tehachapi, CA and Rachelle Reed of Redding and one step-daughter, Heather Parker of Montana. He had three grandchildren, Summer, Devin and Briana. After graduating from Poly Tech High School in Riverside he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War in 1952 and served until 1955. He returned home and attended Pasadena College to study engineering. He became a Tool & Dye Maker and was cleared by the Department of Defense to draft and create tape recording systems for military aircraft. He married in 1963 to Marlene Berg of North Dakota. He moved to Redding with his family in 1974 and sold real estate and was the first to build mini storage off of Shasta View Drive and called them A & M Storage. He remarried in 1984 to Marcia Parker who died in 1988. He worked for Cal Trans and began his own Trucking Company called "Reed Trucking". Arnie was a lifetime member of the NRA and belonged to the Moose Lodge since 1976. Arnie had numerous friends who all agree he had a very big heart. He was generous and giving of his time and resources. He loved to tell Jokes. He was patriotic and loved his country. He loved to build and weld and had a mind for unraveling the puzzles of any engine. He was an awesome father and grandfather. He was understanding and forgiving. We always felt his love, compassion and protection. Through our Mother's prayers he became a Christian and taught his daughters by his examples. He is loved and respected and has left his mark. We appreciated him and told him often.
Services will be held at Allen & Dahl on Eureka Way this Friday, September 24 at 10 a.m. with an Honorary Military service at the Northern California Veteran's Cemetery. Reception at 1 p.m. at the Moose Lodge on Lake Boulevard.

Rachelle and Coleen, We are so sorry that you've lost your father. Take some comfort in knowing he is free of pain now and has gone Home to the loved ones who've preceeded him in passing. He touched a great many people and he will be greatly missed. It's still hard to believe he's gone.

I was saddened Arn died. I knew him when I worked at First Shasta Realty many years ago. He was always upbeat, funny and a caring guy.
