Betty Scott Obituary
1921-2010
Betty Anne Scott, 89, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, in Anderson, CA. She was born October 21, 1921, to James Walter Scott and Veta Berner Scott in Livingston, Montana. Her family later moved to a farm near Jamestown, North Dakota, where she became her father's "right hand man." She received her Eighth Grade diploma from the Stutsman County Schools in Jamestown. While working on the family farm, she was able to obtain sufficient class hours and the required number of credits through correspondence and received a high school diploma in 1941. After several more years on the farm, she enrolled at Jamestown College and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1957. She then enrolled in the School of Medical Technology of St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota, and received her certificate in 1958.
Betty worked as a Medical Technologist at St. Alexius Hospital until 1961 when she packed up her mom and dad and moved everyone to Bozeman, Montana. She worked as a Medical Technologist at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital until 1966 when she accepted a similar position at Mercy Hospital in Redding, CA. She remained there until her retirement in 1991.
Betty was a great "outdoorsperson" and loved to hike. She spent great deal of time in Lassen Park and many of the other mountain areas in the North State.
Betty had a great love for animals and her little farm in Cottonwood, CA, was home to many dogs, cats, at least one horse, and a lot of other "little critters."
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and sisters; Helen Mueller and Veta Winters.
She is survived by nieces; Barbara (David) Doerr, Cheri (Craig) Dyke, Jan (John) Keprios, and nephews; Jim (Pat) Mueller, Greg (Carol) Winters, and Jeff (Laurie) Winters.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, at 2 p.m. at the Crossroads Bible Fellowship, 2300 Ferry Street, Anderson, CA. Betty will be interred near her parents in Bozeman, Montana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty's name can be made to the Humane Society or the Anderson Police Department of Animal Services, 2951 McMurry Drive, Anderson, CA
