Donald Hoff Obituary
Donald A. Hoff was born in Portland, OR on September 27, 1922 and passed away on December 9, 2010 at age 88.
He attended Portland, OR schools and graduated in 1939 from Grant High School. He received a football scholarship to University of Washington for 4 years. He was drafted into the Navy Seabees where he served two years.
He fought in the Admiralty and Soloman Islands. He returned to Portland and then moved to Redding in 1949. He worked with his father-in-law John Nielsen at Nielsen Motor Company until retirement.
Don was an avid golfer and pilot and enjoyed his days at Riverview Country Club and Pebble Beach.
He is survived by his wife Marie Hoff, his daughter Joan Howell Scheller (Jerry), son Donald (Karen) Hoff and grand daughter Allison. A daughter Connie Hoff preceded him in death.
Services were private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connie Hoff Memorial Fund c/o Kathy Alvord, 2322 Dream St. Redding, CA 96001 or Pilgrim Congregational Church 2850 Foothill Blvd, Redding, CA 96001.

Just want to say that I'm going to miss Don. I work at the City Permit Center, which was a wonderful stage for Don! There was always a lively banter with each of us taking the most impossible position possible. But behind that dead pan look on his face, he could never quite conceal the twinkle in his eye which often turned into a laugh and a smile. Such an engaging person. I'm really going to miss him.

What a great person. and a sense of humor like no one I ever knew,Don gave me my first big break in the car bussiness as sales mgr. 1975 to 1978 and I will forever be greatful.

I often googled Don's name toget his phone # to say hello but never did. I work for Don and Marion cowdell in sales at the dealership from 70 to 74. I'm sorry I didn't try harder to reach him. Don was a good guy.

I am so sorry Marie, Joan and Don. I loved your dad all those years at the gas station were so much fun. He will be missed. I feel it was just yesterday I saw him shopping in Holiday with Marie. My sincere condolences. If you need anything please let me know.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your Daddy & husband. Even though I moved to Oregon 6 years ago, I still remember the many times "Donny & Marie" would come into RBC and we would share great laughs. That is how I will remember him.
