Elmer R. Helton

Elmer R. Helton passed from this life on September 23, 2010 after an extended illness.

A memorial service will be held to honor him on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Anderson. 3434 North St.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio, April 9, 1925, the third child of Purley Forest Helton and Mamie Christopher Helton (Hall). Elmer served 2½ years with the U.S. Navy during the 2nd World War. He married his sweetheart, Patsy Ruth Jarvis, in January 1946. They came to Shasta County in 1956. Elmer and Patsy enjoyed 61 years together until she preceded him in death in August of 2007. Elmer and Patsy had two sons, Darrell Dean Helton of Chugiak, Alaska and Ronald Richard Helton of Redding, California.
Elmer was employed by two school districts in Shasta County, and he owned a barber shop in Redding during the 1960's
Throughout his life, Elmer nurtured a strong Christian faith and was a member of the Anderson Church of Christ. He and his family helped construct the building and he worshipped there for the rest of his life.

Elmer was a loving family man who cherished his family. In addition to his two sons, Elmer leaves behind four grandsons, Darrell W. Helton of Chugiak, Alaska, Benjamin C. Helton of Kirkland, Washington, Joshua R. Helton of Davis, California and Phillip R. Helton of Ventura, California, plus two great grand-children of whom he was very proud.

Elmer will be missed by his many longtime friends in the Anderson Church of Christ as well as by his family.
