Johnny Rambo Obituary

Services for Johnny "Ray" Rambo, 83, of Redding will be held at McDonald's Redding Chapel on Friday, December 10, 2010, at 1 p.m.
Mr. Rambo died Monday, November 29, 2010, at Mercy Hospital.
Born on March 11, 1927, in El Dorado, OK, he lived in Texas and Southern California before moving to Shasta County in 1960.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Area. He was owner/operator of Ray Rambo Dump Truck Service. He was a member of the California Dump Truck Owners Association, VFW, and American Legion.
During his life, he enjoyed boxing and earned the Golden Gloves title while serving in the U.S. Navy. He loved camping, boating, waterskiing, riding his trail bike, and playing in Reno.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Johnnie Winona "Winnie"; daughter Elizabeth "Lynne" Yardley and husband Dennis; granddaughters Cindy Rickard and husband Kenny, and Annette Yardley; great grandchildren Cody Ray Yardley, Colton Rickard, and Cara Rickard; nephew Charles Gilbreath and wife Chris, all of Redding; brothers Otis Rambo and wife Francis, and Jerry Rambo and wife Adair, both of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by parents Eddie E. and Abbie I. Rambo, brother Ramon "Jack" Rambo, and sister Malva Mae Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern California Veterans Cemetery Chapel, c/o California Veterans Assistance Group, 737 Auditorium Drive, Redding, CA 96001.

Richard and I only have happy and loving memories of you and Ray and your friendship over the many decades we have known you and the family.
