Nelin Austin Head Sr. 88, died peacefully on March 2, 2013 surrounded by his grandchildren.
Nelin was born in Cromwell, OK to William and Willie Lee Head. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII, prior to meeting the love of his life Betty Head; they made their home Newark, CA where they raised their four children; Nelin A Head II (Marta), Raine (Blair) Benham, Judy (Mike) Navarro, Debra (Bob) Simon. He worked for the FMC Corp. for 36 years before retiring to Shasta Lake City where they have made their home for the last 28 years. The family continued to grow; he is survived by 10 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Together Nelin and Betty shared 65 years of marriage.
He was much loved and our hearts are greatly saddened by his passing.
A memorial service will be held Friday , March 8, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Allen & Dahl on Eureka Way.
