Olive Banks Obituary

1924 - 2010
Olive Kelly Banks was called home to our Lord on December 6, 2010 at the age of 86. She was born on January 13, 1924 to Frances Edna Bowman and Rufus Newton Kelly in Toledo, Iowa. The family moved to Washington when she was a young girl. She was the sixth child of nine.
Olive is survived by her last sibling, Verna Myers of Vancouver, WA. She lost her husband, William "Ray" Banks, after 55 years of marriage in 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers: Ralph and Robert, and sisters: Mildred Griffin, Ethel Koller, Helen Ovall, Edna Thurston, and Charlotte Houghton.
Olive was an advocate for children. She was a CPS Social Worker in Contra Costa County, CA until her retirement. She and Ray then moved to Redding, CA. She leaves behind several friends in Redding, especially Bill Adams, a great family friend and her caretaker for several years. Olive was involved with the Daughters of the Nile, AAUW, and the Shriner's Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriner's Hospital or Lakewood Christian Home in Redding, CA. A memorial service and celebration of life is planned in Vancouver, WA in late December.
