Wanda Yudicsak Obituary

Wanda Novia (Parker) Yudicsak

1920 - 2010

Wanda Yudicsak was born July 16, 1920 in San Marcial, New Mexico to Thomas Noel Parker and Anna Dell (Hayes) Parker. The family moved to Redding in 1924, where Wanda was to live the rest of her life.

She married Glen Yudicsak in 1945 and they had one child, Lee Jean. Gus passed away in 1978.

Wanda is survived by her daughter Lee Anderson and son-in-law Bob.

Wanda attended local schools and graduated from Shasta High in 1939. She was a Teacher's Aid for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Unit of Mistletoe School. Wanda enjoyed seeing the light in the eyes of her former students when they would meet years later. Wanda continued to practice American Sign Language all her life. She remembered fondly of playing in Market Street and the cemetery when she was a young girl and Redding was a small town of 3,000 people.

Wanda met very few strangers and enjoyed an active life to the very end. She and Gus belonged to the Eskimo Ski Club and the Redding Golf Course. She spent many happy days playing golf. She loved spending summers in Crescent City (away from the Redding heat) and enjoyed her annual trip (30+ years) to Kona, Hawaii with her daughter Lee. She like to hike the Sundial Bridge after it was completed. And she was known to enjoy a martini (or two) before dinner at Jack's Steakhouse or Doc Cleary's Hilltop Restaurant.

Wanda died peacefully at Shasta Regional Medical Center with her loving daughter and son-in-law at her side on November 9, 2010 with her tiara on. She will be remembered as vibrant, bright eyed, kind and friendly.

Family and friends are invited to share an adult beverage and hors d'oeuvres in celebration of
Wanda's life at the Redding Elk's Club, Thursday, December 9 from 4: to 6:30 pm.

Lee,
I had the pleasure of working with your mother in the Berglund Unit at Mistletoe School. She was always so sweet, kind and respectful to the students. She was a constant reminder that the children were first and foremost children, who just happened to have a hearing loss. Her bright smile and caring disposition were truly appreciated. I feel blessed having known her. My sympathies are with you!
