Darren Douglas Rainey passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Darren was a devoted husband and father and a wonderful son and brother, always putting family first. He was a peace maker and a leader. Always willing to help where ever he could. Darren had many wonderful friends that he spoke of often. He had an infectious personality and sense of humor. He was always fun to be around and easy to love. His wife and son were his greatest joy. He was hard working and he always looked to the future for their care and comfort. Darren loved the coast and would spend as much time there as he could with family and friends. He loved fishing and hunting.
Darren was born February 13, 1968 in Redding, CA. He graduated from Shasta High School. While at home he spent many summers camping at Lassen Park and on the coast. Darren spent two years in Buenos Aires Argentina on a Church Mission. The past 23 years Darren has worked in construction, fifteen of those years as a heavy equipment operator. He recently received his general engineering contractor's license. Darren will be missed by all.
Darren is survived by his wife, Angela; son, Cody and step son Michael; father, Darrell Rainey (Lynne) and mother Kathleen Sonnenberg (Bill); brothers, Darrell Rainey Jr., Michael Rainey, half-brother John Sonnenberg and two step brothers, Wes Franks and Chuck Sonnenberg and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Darren will be at 2:30 p.m. at Allen & Dahl Funeral home, Palo Cedro, CA. Following the service there will be a celebration of life gathering at the American Legion Hall in Shasta Lake City. A memorial fund has been set up for Darren's wife and son at Golden One Credit Union, 1040 E. Cypress Ave. Suite A Redding, CA 96002.
