February 2,1982 - July 24, 2013

Nicholas Wayne Powell (Nick) born February 2, 1982 in Tampa, Florida passed away July 24, 2013 as a result of a tragic motorcycle accident in Cottonwood, CA.

Nick is survived by his two children Ryler and Michaela of Cottonwood/Red Bluff, parents Carrol and Pat Powell of Weaverville, siblings Alanna Fornaciari (Tony) of Weaverville, Doug Powell(Shawna) of Redding, nieces Nicole, Hannah and Hailey and nephew Austin, as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

Nick spent his childhood growing up in Weaverville, CA attending Weaverville Elementary, Douglas City Elementary and graduating from Trinity High School. While in high school Nick was active in football, basketball and baseball. Throughout his elementary and high school years Nick was involved in 4-H and FFA. As a result of this participation he earned his American Farmers Degree and was elected as Superior Region FFA Shasta Section Vice President.

While attending Shasta College he continued to participate in FFA and lived and worked on the Shasta College farm, participating in all required activities of this project.

He enjoyed a wide variety of activities - outdoor activities, hunting, sports, dirt bikes and video games to mention a few.

Recently and most passionately he enjoyed spending his free time with his two children.

For the past 13 years he has been a firefighter with the US Forest Service, he was currently working as a Fire Engine Operator on the Shasta Lake National Recreation Area in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

A Celebration of Life for Nick will be held Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 2 PM at the Weaverville Veterans Hall (CD Hall) 101 Memorial Drive (1/4 mile West on Highway 299 passed the Weaverville Forest Service Office on the right)
