Bangle, Edgar
Edgar (Ed) Bangle Was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on August 14, 2016 at the age of 93. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 24th at 10:00 o'clock am. at Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands. Ed was born on April 24th, 1923 in Redlands California, where he graduated from Redlands High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Navy in December 1941, after learning of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served as an aviation mechanic and later as a navigator in a PB-Y in the Pacific theater. This experience fostered a love for flying and all things aviation. This passion would result in Ed obtaining a pilot's license and owning his own personal aircraft in later years. After leaving the Navy, Ed joined the CHP where he proudly served for 20 years. He was the first pilot to fly in the department's aircraft patrol unit, responsible for patrolling the desert highways. Ed was also a proud member and past president of the Redlands chapter of the EAA. For many years, he could frequently be found tinkering on his plane at the Redlands, and later Kingman airports, or taking off for the friendly skies! He was passionate about the EAA Young Eagles program at Redlands airport and served as pilot with them. Young Eagles is a program designed to introduce and inspire young people into the world of aviation. After retiring from the CHP, Ed owned and operated San Bernardino Floor Company for many years. Ed loved music and would frequently break into song or start humming loudly, much to the delight of everyone around him. He immensely enjoyed in-n-out cheeseburgers as well as See's candy. He loved having family around and left an amazing legacy in the family he leaves behind. Ed met the love of his life Arlene Brown, while they were both attending Redlands High School. They married in 1943 and were married just short of 73 years. Ed is survived by his bride of 72 years, Arlene, as well as five daughters and one son, Diana Real, Donna White (Greg White), Linda Tomczak (Steve Tomczak), Joyce Pagel (Kirk Pagel), Sydney Barta (Chris Barta) and Larry Bangle (Dina Bangle). He is also amazingly survived by 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. He was preceded and welcomed into heaven by his beloved grandson, Brent Obmann. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Redlands chapter of the EAA Young Eagles program. Please make your checks out to Young Eagles c/o Beverly Buck, 26599 Sparks Street, Highland, CA 92346. In the memo line, write 'Young Eagles in honor of Ed Bangle' My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.. Psalm 73:26
