Delphine E. Delphine Esther Hansen passed away in the early hours of the morning on February 15, 2013 at the age of 84 years old due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
Delphine was a Christmas Eve baby born on December 24, 1928 at St. Luke's hospital in Pasadena, CA. She was raised in Pasadena and attended St. Phillips, Woodrow Wilson Junior High School and graduated from Pasadena City College in 1949. She later graduated from California State University, Los Angeles in 1969 with a B.S. degree in Art Education. She had many experiences in her work life. She taught art in high school and worked as a nurse at Arcadia Methodist Hospital. She spent many hours volunteering her time by helping at her children's schools serving in the P.T.A., serving as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and could always be counted on to donate her time as a Team Mom with West Arcadia Little League. In addition, she volunteered to help in classrooms at Longley Way Elementary in Arcadia.
Delphine was an avid artist and loved to paint with oils. She always strived to perfect her craft and attended art classes in the San Gabriel Valley. She entered her art work in various art exhibits and won many ribbons for her outstanding work. She liked to teach art to her grandchildren. She was active in the Arcadia community and attended regular meetings at the Arcadia Women's Club. Delphine had many interests. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She loved to go to the movies, watch sports and travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Martina Cabral (Romero), her older sister Patricia Marshall (Cabral) and her youngest brother Benny Cabral. She is survived by her younger brother, Frank Cabral and his wife Dolores of Sierra Madre, her loving husband of 47 years Harry Hansen of Arcadia, her daughter Adrienne Gracia (Martinez) of West Covina, her son Erick Hansen of Santa Clarita, five grand children, one great granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services for Delphine will be held Sunday, March 3 at 12:00 p.m. at Cabot & Sons, Pasadena. The family requests that no flowers or donations be made. Cabot and Sons, Pasadena
