Eleanor Jane Crawford
Passed away on March 6th at the age of 83 from congestive heart failure. Born Eleanor Jane Beckwith, on May 22, 1929, in Forest Grove, Oregon, she was the first child of Clara & Leon Beckwith. She married Wilbur Proffitt in 1945 (Divorced in 1949) and they had a son, David, in 1948. In 1951, Eleanor married Lowell Crawford and together they had four daughters. The family moved to California in 1961, where they lived in Los Alamos, Hermosa Beach and then Torrance. After their retirement, she and Lowell moved to Fair Oaks near Sacramento where Lowell passed away in 1990. She moved back to Southern California, living in Yucaipa, and most recently in Redlands. She is survived by her sister, Shirley LeCoque of Seattle, Washington; her brother, William Beckwith of Battle Ground, Washington; son, David Proffitt (wife, Ellen) of Tillamook, Oregon; daughters Valerie Caparino (husband, Milbrun) of La Mirada, California, Connie Blasco (husband, Mark) of Lacey, Washington, Karen Ison (husband, John) of Tigard, Oregon, and LeAnn Nash (husband Joe) of Redlands, California. She was the extremely proud grandmother to sixteen, and great-grandmother to twenty.
Eleanor spent many years as a homemaker and a seamstress. She worked for several years at home and at a bridal salon, altering wedding gowns. Her expertise in this area garnered her quite a reputation and many people sought out her skills.
Eleanor leaves a legacy as a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Her family and friends adored her, and to say that she will be missed is a vast understatement.
Services will be held this Monday, March 11th at noon at Preciado Funeral Home, 923 W. Mill Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410
