Neva J. Harmon
82, of San Bernardino, CA passed away on February 5, 2014, in West Hills CA. She was born, Wauneva Jean Aringdale on December 23, 1931 in Council Bluffs Iowa to Clifford and Fern Aringdale. She graduated from St. Bernardine's High School in 1950 and graduated Valley College in 1952. She had an early career working with the Gas Company in Los Angeles. In 1953, Neva married her High School sweetheart Richard Shaw. Together they had two children Gregory and Denise. She was very happy being a wife and mother and was very active in many school and charitable organizations in the San Fernando Valley. She volunteered at St. Francis de Sales school, in Sherman Oaks and was an active volunteer with her son and daughter's Scout Troops. She volunteered with St. Joseph's Hospital Guild in Burbank. She was President of St. Joseph's Hospital Guild from 1971-1973, a job she loved doing and did it very well.
In the early 1980's, when her children were grown and out of the house, she moved to Newport Beach. It was here she enjoyed a career with Merrill Lynch, Newport Beach. She also enjoyed socializing with many of her new friends, but always had time for her old friends. She was a very loyal friend to her friends and never forgot anybody's birthday, ever, even when she was sick. You would always receive a birthday card at least a week before your birthday. It was here in Newport, that she met the second love of her life, John Harmon. After their marriage, she moved to be with him in San Bernardino. They loved golfing, traveling, the beach, spending time with friends and family most of all playing a good game of cards.
Neva's positive attitude and sheer determination followed her through out her life even to the end as she battled cancer.
She was preceded in death by her son Greg Shaw, her beloved second husband John Harmon, her first husband Richard Shaw, her step-granddaughter, Christi Davila and her great step-son Alex Davila.
She is survived by her cherished daughter, Denise Shaw-Allen and her son-in-law James Allen, her step-daughter Kathy Jaurique and husband Steve, step-daughter Deborah King, her step-granddaughter Marisa Maquinalez, her step-granddaughter Kathryn Alexander and her husband Roy, her step-grandson Mark Jaurique, five great step-grandsons and one great step granddaughter.
