Willard Sheldon Higley (Bill)

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Bill was born in Grand Rapids, MI, attended Olivet College and the University of
Michigan where he graduated with a degree in Chemistry. He served as an Army intelligence officer and chemical expert in WWII and married the love of his life, Myra Stone Lynn (predeceased in 2009), where they resided in Whiting, IN. Bill worked at Standard Oil of Gary, IN as a research chemist and later moved to Glendora, CA to work at Aerojet General where he helped develop the solid rocket propellant for the Saturn V rockets. In the early 70s and 80s, Bill worked for several companies in the San Gabriel Valley and developed the non-sticking reverse osmosis membrane for kidney dialysis machines. He was a member of Glenkirk Church in Glendora until his death at 94 and is survived by his three daughters, Sarah Higley (Christopher Hickey), Jane Higley (Hugh Dalton), and Carol Anne Hagele (Kent Hutchings); two grandchildren, Matthew and Aaron Hutchings; and his granddaughter Paige Hutchings Garrahan (Patrick) and their children, Owen, Audrey and Elise Garrahan. Services will be private.
