CleoBell Heiple-Tice, 90, passed away on August 26, 2013, at Kaiser Permanente in Ontario, surrounded by her family.
Cleo Bell Mimbach was born on August 14, 1923 to Leo and Lily Mimbach in West Bend, Iowa. She had two sisters and one brother. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and later obtained a M.A. from New Mexico Highlands University.
She was married to Clark Heiple in 1946 and had two children, Marie Louise and Philip Lloyd. Clark Heiple passed away in 1995. In 2002, she married Sidney Tice with whom she spent the rest of her life.
Always an energetic, active, and generous worker and volunteer, CleoBell was a school teacher for many years. She was active in the local chapter of the National Reading Association, the American Association of University Women, the California Retired Teachers Association, and the NiteOwls Quilt Guild. She volunteered at the Sam Maloof Foundation, the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, Loaves and Fishes, and the Trinity Methodist Church in Ontario. She enjoyed reading poetry and stories to school classes. CleoBell loved butterflies and always wore one for the children to find.
She is survived, and greatly missed, by her husband, one sister (Lola Carlson), her two children, and five grand- children.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden at 2pm. Gifts to the Garden can be made to honor her.
