Dorothy May (Preece) Hubbs
Was born on September 5, 1917, in Los Angeles, California, to Dessie Daily and Otis Martin Preece. She passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, in Cedar Hills, Utah. Dorothy has been residing in The Charleston at Cedar Hills, an assisted living home, the last two years.
She is survived by her youngest sister, Barbara Chalfont, of Alpine, Utah. her son Keith of Carlsbad, California, Gary, of Spanish Fork, Utah, twins, Kraig and Kirk of Vancouver, Washington and Beaverton, Oregon. Dorothy has 11 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. A fifth son, Ken Hubbs, was killed in a plane crash in 1964. He was a celebrated athlete from Colton, winning awards from Little League World Series competitions to National League Rookie of the Year while playing for the Chicago Cubs. Dorothy has been a widow since December 5, 1985, when her husband, Eulis Hubbs, a prominent citizen of Colton passed away.
She is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, (Mormon). She attended Colton Ward, which was organized about 80 years ago, when her father, Otis Preece was the first Bishop. She served in many ways, but her favorite was music and singing. She was choir director, chorister, and sang in a quartet that became very popular. Her services will be held in the Colton Ward building, 250 West Laurel, Colton, California, on April 2, 2013, at 10:00 AM.
