Eleanor was born in El Paso, Illinois. She graduated from El Paso High School in 1929. Eleanor attended Illinois State Teacher's College for one year. In 1932 she attended Evanston Business School and became a secretary. Her first job as a secretary was at State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington, Illinois. Eleanor met Richard Scott while working as his secretary at Chanute Air Base in Illinois. Eleanor and Richard were married on Sept. 29, 1944 near Sheppard Air Base. Eleanor and Richard have lived in Mississippi, Japan, Virginia, Ohio, Denver, back to Virginia, and Maryland. When Richard retired from the Air Force, in 1959, they moved to Redlands. Eleanor's two favorite jobs were being the personnel secretary at the University of Redlands (1959-1971). Eleanor was an avid tennis player and golfer. In 1968, in the Redlands Diamond Jubilee, she was the women's doubles champion, the mixed doubles champion, and runner-up in the women's singles. In 1976 she was the Redlands Country Club runner-up for the women's championship. Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband Richard (2001). Eleanor's survivors are son David and his wife Sandee (Beaumont), daughter Pamela (Redlands), granddaughter Julie Anderson (Florida), great-grandchildren Ryan and Madison Anderson (Florida), and grandson Scott Diel (San Diego). Eleanor loved life and now will be together forever with her beloved Richard.
