He is preceded in death by son Gilbert Robles, Jr. (1977 age 20), Louie Robles (brother), Dora Robles Campos (sister), mother and father Mr & Mrs Benjamin D and Delphina Navarrette Robles. Gilbert was our loving spouse, father and grandfather who will be missed immensely. Gilbert was a good neighbor, friend and helper to everyone he met. He was raised in a small community (Chino, CA) a member of a hard working family. He learned the lessons of hard work and overcoming challenges of life and went on to build a comfortable and wonderful life for our family. He was a good organizer of family reunions, community gathering and community improvement projects. During his work at the Youth Authority he was a model mentor and provided supervision and guidance for troubled youth and he was also trained as a Hostage Negotiator.
He brought good humor and patience to every gathering and he shared stories of his family's history and his own experience with genuine enthusiasm and at times believable embellishment. He helped our parents and grandparents as they neared their passing and was a great source of comfort and strength. After retiring, Gilbert and Connie built their dream retirement home in the mountains where they planned on living and fishing. Diagnosed with Cancer one year ago, he spent the last 12 months battling it until it overcame him on Saturday July 7th. He passed away in peace at home with his family as he wanted. We will miss him greatly but celebrate the many accomplishments of his/our life. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM at Shandon Community Hall 195 N. 2nd St, Shandon, Ca, 93461. In lieu of flowers Shandon Valley Lions' Club/Scholarship Fund, PO Box 55, Shandon, Ca 93461.
