Helen Service Oakley

Helen passed away just after sunrise on July 19th with her family at her side. Her husband Stan, of 63 years, passed away one month earlier. Helen was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to California in 1948 where she met Stan. Here they married on June 9th, 1950. They settled in Pasadena where they raised their two sons.
She retired from Pasadena City College in 1990. Her love of the outdoors led her to work with the San Gabriel Valley Trail Builders and joining the Walkers Club of Los Angeles. During her long race walker career she won many awards and participated in the 1989 World Veteran Games.
Helen is predeceased in death by her husband Stan, sister Molly Dougherty and granddaughter Lacy Oakley.
She is survived by her sons S. Michael and Harold Oakley, grandchildren Kirsten Wendt and Christopher Oakley, great grandchildren John Paul Jurado, Mikayla Deleon and Matthew Oakley.
Her smile and love of life will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
