Joseph P. Colley
Passed away at his home on August 2, 2012. Born in San Bernardino, California on August 28, 1925. He graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1943 and attended San Bernardino Valley College. Joseph received a BA degree from the California Institute of Technology (V-12 program) and MS degree from USC. He worked as a civil engineer for the City of Redlands and County of San Bernardino.
Joe's primary interest was photography as an art. He was an extended day professor of photography at University of California at Riverside and San Bernardino State University. His background included numerous workshops with renown photographer Ansel Adams and he taught "The Cambrian Experience" workshop for sixteen summer sessions. He will be featured "Artist of the Month" at the Redlands Art Association Gallery in November.
He was awarded the Mr. Tennis Award from the Redlands Racquet Club for coaching juniors and for his Co-Director's position in organizing Redlands Sanctioned Juniors Tournaments for 20 years. Joe was also a member of the Redlands Dance Club, Redlands Master Choral, Redlands Yucaipa Men's Golf Association and the Redlands Country Club.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 58 years J. Ruth Colley, daughters Cathryn Lambeth, Barbara Lyle and son David. Grandchildren John Lyle, Kelsey Lyle Johnson, Kerry Munro and Will Lambeth.
Graveside Service will be held at Redlands Hillside Memorial Cemetery on Friday, August 17th at 12:30 p.m. Reception will follow at the Redlands Country Club 2-4 p.m.
