Leo B. Levandusky, 89
August 13, 1924- December 14, 2013
Leo Levandusky passed away in Boise, Idaho, December 14, 2013, where he lived with his son and daughter in law for the past 14 months. Leo died peacefully surrounded by his family and ready to spend Christmas and forever after with his beloved wife Norma.
Leo was born in Waukegan, Illinois on August 13, 1924 to Vincent and Nellie Levandusky. The youngest of six children, Leo attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School through the eighth grade and Waukegan Township High School where he graduated with honors.
Leo joined the U.S.
Air Corps and served as a B17 Tailgunner in World War ll. He earned the
Medal as well as the Air Medal and
for his heroism and valor.
Upon honorable discharge following his injury sustained in combat, Leo moved to Long Beach, California, where he met and married Norma Jean Bostwick. Together they raised three children in their original Long Beach home of 58 years.
Leo retired in 1982 following 30 years of service with Market Basket Grocery, where he became a friend to many in their daily chats at the market.
Leo was an avid golfer, claiming Long Beach Recreation and Skylinks as his favorite golf courses. A true believer in the Chicago Cubs, Leo continues to root from above for their someday pennant win. Tending his yard and striving for the perfect lawn was another of his pastimes.
Leo is preceded in death by his wife, Norma; his brothers, Jim, Joe, Vince; and sisters,Charlotte and Marie. Leo is survived by his son Robert (Doni) of Boise, Idaho, son William of Edgewood, Washington, daughter Janette (Dave) of Silverdale, Washington, grandson Brett (Rachel), granddaughters Kristen (Jeff), Gena, Olivia and three great grandsons.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Veterans Administration Outpatient Clinic of Long Beach, California and Boise, Idaho for their excellent care given to their father.
