Martha Muriel Johnson Obituary
Martha Muriel Johnson

March 14, 1916 - May 1, 2014

Martha was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved by train to Pasadena, California at age four. She resided there until 1973 when her husband Arthur retired and they moved to Old Town, Seal Beach. Following his death she moved to Leisure World, Seal Beach, Mutual 3 in 1982 and subsequently to Quaker Gardens, Stanton in 2009.

In her words she was a "Jill of many trades" during the Great Depression as a department store salesperson, Kraft Cheese demonstrator, Columbia Records office staff member, dedicated and loving mother raising three children, and finally a medical secretary for over 20 years. Affiliated with many organizations, including: Leisure World's Community Church as the head of shepherds for many years, and Quaker Gardens as a volunteer grading prison ministry papers and providing encouragement to inmate authors.

Martha always placed her family as the number one priority. Married to Art, her high school sweetheart, 42 years. They had three sons: Douglas, and twins Bruce (deceased in 2009) and Robert. With 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Martha expressed "Family is the most important thing in my life. I have been blessed always with love - from my parents and brother, my husband, and my sons and their families."

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 24, 10am at Quaker Gardens, 12151 Dale Street, Stanton, CA 90680. The family requests that contribution to a be made in lieu of flowers. Please sign the guest book at www.presstelegram.com/obits.
