ZISKO, Richard Franklin

Richard Franklin Zisko 91 died June 4, 2012. Born October 21, 1920 to Mary (Horak) and Edward Zisko in Cedar Rapids, IA, he played basketball for Roosevelt HS, graduating in 1938. He was a WWII Army Master Sergeant, arriving CA in 1946 after honorably discharged. Earning a BA in Education from Pepperdine College in 1949, and a MA from the Univ. of Idaho in 1957, he was a teacher & basketball coach in Independence, CA, before hired by the WUHSD in 1955 to open Santa Fe HS. He opened Monte Vista HS in 1967 & remained head counselor until it closed in 1979. He retired in 1981. In 1956 he married Marie (DeNooy) Hoehn, who died in 2010. They moved to La Habra in 1965. He is survived by his daughter, Karen. Private interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier. He will be lovingly remembered and endlessly missed.
