ROBERT "BOB" E. O'CONNOR
Passed away on May 5, 2014. He was born in Chicago, Illinois 1935, Bob was married for over 50 years to his childhood sweetheart, Mary Rita, (now deceased). He was a long time resident of the San Fernando Valley.
After earning an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy, he became a Beverly Hills Police Department Officer where he retired. In his retirement years, he followed his passion for golf and became a PGA Golf Instructor, teaching golf at both Pierce and LA community colleges, as well as working at Encino/Balboa and Van Nuys golf courses.
Bob was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his daughter, Angie; son, Tim, and daughter-in-law, Mardie; grandsons, Christopher and Matthew; sister, Maureen; brother, John, (Tania); and many loving nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, constant optimistic demeanor, enthusiasm, years of service as a police officer, selfless help to others, and avid pursuit of golf. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 16th, 3:00 p.m., at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Catholic Church, Encino, CA.
