ROQUE AMADEO PADILLA
Age 92, of Glendale, California passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 25, 2013.
Roque was born in Belen, New Mexico on April 12, 1921 to Adolfo and Madalena Padilla. He married Irene Castillo on February 14, 1944 in Albuquerque, NM. They were happily married for 68 years until she passed away on February 1, 2012.
Roque and Irene moved from New Mexico to Los Angeles for work in the early 1940's. Roque was a machinist and worked at Peerless Pump for 42 years until his retirement. While raising their five sons in Los Angeles, and later Glendale, Roque enjoyed restoring and maintaining antique cars, notably a 1929 Ford Model A and a 1952 MG TD, which he often showcased at local parades and car shows.
Roque is survived by his 5 sons; Anthony of Medford, Oregon, Robert of Ventura, Conrad of Burbank, Carl of Glendale and David of Glendale. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and his sister Lola, 94, of Santa Fe, NM.
A Rosary service and viewing will be held at 7:00pm, Friday, August 2nd at Incarnation Church in Glendale. The funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 3rd, at Incarnation Church, with Reverend Dominic Pontrelli officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, CA.
Roque was a hard-working, patient, and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
