Sharon Hodgdon Landrum
Sharon Agee Hodgdon Landrum passed away on the evening of December 4th, 2013, surrounded by her family and her faith. She is survived by her husband, Michael Landrum, her sons Aaron and Justin Hodgdon and their families, her mother Verdie and her sisters Maureen and Denise and brother Curt. Others in her family include Jessica and Nick Landrum, Christi Bulot, Marti Hodgdon, Darren Hodgdon, and Jay Stanley. She is grandmother to fourteen.
Born in Whittier, California, Sharon resided in San Bernardino, Washington DC, Dallas, and McLean,VA.
Sharon was a mother, family leader, a Christian philanthropist and leader, business woman, designer, rancher, property developer, political candidate and strategist, NASCAR pioneer and owner, lobbyist, and retailer.
In San Bernardino she and her family were major supporters of the Boys and Girls Club, the Lighthouse for the Blind, Santa Claus Inc., and Campus Crusade for Christ. As pioneers of modern NASCAR, the family owned race tracks from Ontario, CA to Richmond, VA, and, with racing Hall of Famer Junior Johnson, owned and sponsored winning NASCAR teams with drivers including Dale Earnhardt, Bobby Allison and Neil Bonnett. In Washington DC, she owned and operated a political consulting and campaign finance firm, supporting members of both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Sharon will be remembered as she was loved in life; as a beautiful, strong and giving woman whose love of life, faith, family and friends served to strengthen the faith and lives of all around her. Her light will always shine brightly.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 11 January at 1100 a.m. at Christ Church, 3116 O Street, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations may be made to the Children's Inn at the National Institute of Health,
