WANDA B. HALE Obituary
Wanda B. Hale
Age 96, passed away at Redlands Community Hospital on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. She was born January 29, 1918 at Wentworth, Missouri, to Warnie and Jenner Boucher. She was raised and educated in Mt. Vernon, Lawrence County, Missouri. She married Raymond Hale in Aurora, Missouri, June 11, 1940, and they moved to Brawley, California the following August. In 1941 they moved to Redlands where she lived until her death. Wanda worked at the Woolworth store which stood at the corner of State and Orange, and later at all three Safeway stores in Redlands. During World War II, she became interested in real estate, and in 1949 helped form the Multiple Listing Service which was a part of the Redlands Board of Realtors. She served as president of the Board of Realtors in 1963, and was a member of the building committee when the Board built its own building at 500 Brookside Avenue in 1968.
A charter member of the Zonta Club, Wanda was also a member of the Contemporary Club, and the Business Professional Women. She served 18 years on the Salvation Army Board, and several terms on the Valley College Real Estate Advisory Board. She loved gardening, sewing, knitting, fishing, and traveling with her husband in their motor home throughout the United States.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, one brother, and one sister. She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends who loved her, and were involved in her busy and fruitful life.
There will be a viewing, June 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cortner Chapel followed by a graveside service in Hillside Memorial Park for family and friends at 1:30 p.m. Following interment, there will be a service of celebration at 2:30 p. m. in the First Congregational Church chapel, with a light lunch to follow at the Contemporary Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wanda's memory to the local Salvation Army, P. O. Box 26, Redlands, CA 92373. Cortner Chapel in charge of arrangements.
