Douglas Stephen Wilkinson
Doug Wilkinson passed away after suffering a stroke on February 1, 2013, while vacationing in Keystone, Colorado with his beloved wife, Katherine.
Doug was born in Pomona, California on August 11, 1957. He attended Damien High School in La Verne, graduating in 1975. He went on to attend the University of California Irvine, received his pharmacy degree at UC San Francisco, and graduated top of his class from the University of Southern California's medical school. He met Katherine at USC, where she was studying law, and they married in Long Beach in 1988. After the birth of Ellie and Tom, the family moved to Camarillo, where Doug worked as a cardiologist in Ventura and helped countless people for over 20 years. In his free time, Doug enjoyed traveling with Katherine, hiking, biking, skiing and spending time outdoors. His sense of humor, generosity and deep compassion for others will be greatly missed.
He is survived by Katherine, his daughter, Ellie, and son, Tom. He is also survived by his father, Bill Wilkinson; his two sisters, Mary Ann Sims and Kathleen Wilkinson; his sister-in-law, Anne Wehrle; his brother-in-law, Gary Sims; his aunts, Emily Corral and Mary K Drennan; his uncle, Jim Drennan; his nieces, Claire, Julia and Hannah; his nephews, Luke, Will, Joe, Jake, Grayson, Matt and Scott; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Angelo Lippolis and Joseph and Kay Wilkinson; mother, Fran Wilkinson; brother, Bill Wilkinson; and uncle, Ed Corral.
A funeral service for him will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Padre Serra Parish, 5205 Upland Road in Camarillo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
