Betty Jean (Lee) Lindberg, 84, Villisca, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak.
Betty was born April 28, 1932, in Grant, in the same house where her father was born. She was the second of seven children born to Albert and Olive (Hill) Lee. She attended country school and graduated from Villisca High School in 1950.
She married Gilbert Lindberg, her high school sweetheart, on Oct. 1, 1950. They were blessed with three children, David, Danny, and Linda. Besides being a dedicated wife and mother, Betty worked many years at Union Carbide/EverReady Battery Company in Red Oak until she retired in 1996. After retirement, Betty and Gilbert enjoyed traveling.
Betty loved her home and took great pride in keeping things nice and tidy. She found great joy in cooking and spending time with each of her grand children and great-grandchildren. Betty was an active member of the Villisca Advent Christian Church, where she served in several positions on the board and Evening Circle.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Elmer and Ida (White) Lindberg; and her sister, Mary (Lee) Robinson.
Betty was a loving sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Gilbert; children, David (Susan) Lindberg, Danny (Sherry) Lindberg and Linda (Gary) Bruning; 12 grandchildren, Kelly (Shay) Lindberg, Kevin (Amy) Lindberg, Kyle Lindberg (Rachel), Lisa (Scott) Sawtelle, Laura (Ryan) Fischer, April (Brock) Stumpff, Brent Olson, Craig (Andria) Olson, Jenna (Brian) McCarthy, Jamie (Kami) Bruning, Trevor Bruning (Erin Ray), and Danielle (Art) Reuter; 27 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Anna) Lee, Everette (Betty) Lee, and Carl (Sandy) Lee; sisters, Sara (Jesse) DeLaney, and Martha (Val Gene) Walter.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the Advent Christian Church in Villisca. Burial will be in the Methodist Grove Cemetery in rural Nodaway. Memorials are suggested to the Villisca Advent Christian Church.
