Larry Hardisty, 71, rural Corning, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018, at his home.
Larry Eugene Hardisty, the son of Darold Burdette and Ruby Lee (Richardson) Hardisty, was born Oct. 24, 1946, in Maryville, Mo. Larry was raised in Carbon and lived most of his life in Adams and Cass Counties. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on June 8, 1965. Upon his return to civilian life, Larry began working construction. He later become a truck driver and then purchased his own rig and was the owner/operator, hauling sheet rock and irrigation systems. In 1995, he sold his truck and began working for Cardinal Glass for a short time and Henningson Construction, retiring in 2000.
Larry was a former member of the American Legion and VFW. His hobbies included riding bicycle, which he did while participating in two different RAGBRAIs. He was a clock collector and enjoyed feeding the hummingbirds. When Larry was younger, he enjoyed stock car racing at the Adams County Speedway. Larry always had to be busy and was never idle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish Larry's memory is his special friend and companion, Diana Thomas, Corning; seven children, Tony (Angie) Hardisty, Corning; Kimberly Stark (significant other – Shawn Pohlman) Stanton, Neb.; Troy (Tracey) Hardisty, Anita; Jeremy (Teresa) Hardisty, Cumberland; Darrin (Tiffany) Hardisty, Cumberland; Kristal (Shaune) Feese, Wiota; Steven (Tiffany) Hardisty, Fort Dodge; brother, Bruce (Beverly) Hardisty, Elkhorn, Neb.; and step-sister, Patty Nelson, Red Oak; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Preceding Larry in death were his parents; and sister, Mary Ranney.
Funeral Services will be at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 701 7th Street, Corning, with Mr. Roger Sorenson officiating. A private family interment will be held at the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery, Adel, Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
Memorials may be directed to the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department; the Corning Volunteer Fire Department; and/or Matura of Corning.
