Lorraine Joyce Theophilus, 93, Red Oak, formerly of Estherville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.
Lorraine was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Valley City, N.D., the daughter of Asa Lloyd and Sorine (Madsen) Sampson. She was raised in Jackson, Minn., where she graduated from high school.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Owen David Theophilus on May 6, 1944, in Jackson. Lorraine and O.D. moved to Estherville, where they raised their family. Over the years, Lorraine worked for Golden Sun Feeds and Emmet County State Bank, where she retired. Lorraine moved to be near her daughter, Nancy, in Red Oak, in 2001. She was a longtime member of the VFW Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star and the Presbyterian Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, O.D. Theophilus in 1990; son, Tom Theophilus; great-grandson, Jacob Anderson; siblings, Lucille Sampson, Jeannette Hanson, Pauline Worshek, Ellsworth Sampson, and Rose Ann Raasch; and son-in-law, David Anderson. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Anderson and Stan Waller of Red Oak; daughter-in-law, Cindy Theophilus and Wes Doi of Mishawaka, Ind.; grandchildren, Jay Anderson and wife Cindy of Grand Junction, Colo.; Christy Fochtman of Red Oak; Jon Theophilus and wife Megan of Westfield, Ind.; and Matt Theophilus and wife Amy of Fishers, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Lucas Anderson, Linsay Oldsen, Mackenzie Fochtman, Larsen Theophilus, Marin Theophilus, Declan Theophilus, Owen Theophilus, and Benjamin Theophilus; sister-in-law, Marge Sampson of Bozeman, Mont.; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Presbyterian Church.
