Pamela Hutchings Taylor, 75, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at her home with her husband, Darwin and their daughters, Taunya and Terri.
Pamela was born in Red Oak, Iowa on Oct. 1, 1942, daughter of the late Elbert "Red" and Henrietta Hutchings. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Lee.
Pam graduated from Red Oak High School. Traveling the world as a military spouse, she was passionate about her family and at each duty station embraced its culture by providing opportunities for her children to be immersed in the local culture. Pam enjoyed cooking, often experimenting with international recipes, knitting and crocheting, and watching musicals. While stationed in Asmara, Ethiopia, she and Darwin enjoyed square dancing with friends. She was a proud grandmother and often called her granddaughter "Mickey Nickey," who then dubbed Pam as her Mickey Nickey ensuring that all who knew her going forward would call her by that name.
Pam is survived by her husband, Darwin Taylor, who resides in Dunn, N.C.; two daughters; Taunya Tae Taylor (David Hill) who resides in Virginia; Terri Tae Reichert (Timothy) who resides in North Carolina; two grandchildren, Michelle McDonald and Jonathan Reichert; her sister, Jill O'Neal (John) of Red Oak; nephew, Daric O'Neal (Jill) of Red Oak; and niece Alisa O'Neal (Dean Woodcook) who reside in Omaha, NE.
In lieu of a service and according to her wishes, the family will celebrate Pamela's life in the NC mountains in the fall of 2018.
Those wishing to honor Pamela's life are invited to make a donation in her name to the Humane Society.
