Raymond Paul Moree, 94, Red Oak, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the Villisca Good Samaritan Society.
Raymond was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Oklahoma, the son of Denver and Daisy (Kelley) Moree. The family moved to Wales, Iowa, when Raymond was very young. He graduated from Wales Lincoln High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Upon his return home from service, Raymond was united in marriage to Mavis Reed on May 1, 1946, at the Reed family farm near Elliott. They started farming and have lived on the same homestead since 1951. Raymond's passion was farming. He raised crops and livestock throughout his career and also enjoyed having a team of mules and horses. Raymond and Mavis enjoyed boating and camping, fishing, and traveling, and he was a lifetime member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Mavis on Aug. 15, 2013; and sister, Doris Frederickson.
Survivors include his daughter: Sharon Gettler and husband Dean of Red Oak; grandchildren, Travis Gettler and wife Naomi of Red Oak; Nicholas Gettler of Red Oak; Caleb Gettler and wife Jenny of Stanton; and Rebekah Smith and husband Caleb of Atlantic; great-grandchildren, Evan, Weston, Addelyn, Paisley, and Owen Gettler; brother, Denver Moree, Jr. of Shenandoah; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Memorial Court of Honor.
