Robert William Dado, 71, Red Oak, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society.
Robert was born Jan. 27, 1946, in Red Oak, the son of Raymond and Elizabeth (Olson) Dado. Robert was in a farm accident as an infant that left him deaf and crippled. He graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in 1965 and farmed with his father and brother from 1966 until 2014. He overcame his handicap and accomplished more things than most people do in a lifetime. He loved animals and his John Deere tractors. Robert and his brother, Ralph, have restored many old tractors. Robert loved antique tractor pulls and was a member of the Southwest Iowa Tractor Pullers Association. His favorite tractors were his 1937G and 1951G John Deere that he won many tractor pulls with. He loved his fellow pullers, and he knew just about everyone's vehicle in Montgomery County. Robert always had a smile and will be dearly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his siblings, Barbara Johnson of Red Oak; Katherine Reddick of Independence, Mo.; Richard Dado and wife Pam of Duluth, Minn.; Joan Englin of Alexandria, Minn.; Susan Proch and husband Dennis of Kingsville, Mo.; and Ralph Dado of Red Oak; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at the Evergreen Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established in Robert's name.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
