Rosemary Therese Gray, 83, Emerson, passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.
Rosemary was born Aug. 25, 1934, in McPherson, Kan., the daughter of John and Martha (Vandershtay) Menges. She graduated from St. Francis High School in Council Bluffs and attended one year of school at Benedictine College. Rosemary was united in marriage to Eugene Gray on Sept. 24, 1955, in Council Bluffs. They lived many places throughout the United States and abroad while Gene served in the military. They moved to the Red Oak area in 1987. Rosemary was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for many years. She was an accomplished bridge player, enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and was an excellent bowler. She was inducted into the Iowa Bowlers Hall of Fame.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Eugene Gray on July 17, 2015; son, David Gray on Aug. 1, 2015; one brother; and six sisters.
Survivors include her children, Debra Johnson; Steven Gray; Michael Gray and wife Jolene; Dennis Gray; Stanley Gray; Monica Wright and husband Dan; Douglas Gray and special friend Juli; Susan Gray; Marshall Gray and wife Trish; and Diane Gray; grandchildren, Joshua Gray; Brett Gray and wife Erin; Trent Gray; Sable Gray; Victoria Gray; Tyler Gray; Elizabeth Gray; and Ryan Lawton; many step-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jane Gray and Nicole Gray; brothers-in-law, Jerry Schulkey and Glenn Smallen; and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with visitation with the family to follow until 8 p.m.
