David William Davidson Obituary
David William Davidson, 63, of Prior Lake passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home.
A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Rock Dell Cemetery, just north of Belview.
David William Davidson was born in Redwood Falls to Arlene and Aldon Davidson June 15, 1954. He lived in Belview for the first few years of life, but then the family moved to Franklin where he began school. He moved with his family to Redwood Falls in 1965 where he finished his elementary and high school education, graduating in 1972. While growing up, many relatives only knew Dave as "Billy" because of having the middle name of William.
Dave was active with photography and basketball during his high school years, working at Williams Studios and starting on the varsity basketball team.
After graduating from high school, Dave attended St. Cloud State University where he also played basketball.
While in St. Cloud, Dave found out that he was a natural and began a career in the food and beverage business starting at Ivan's in the Park as well as other restaurants around the state. He also spent several years enjoying his craft of photography.
The company he worked for allowed him to travel to several locations where he did commercial photography, specializing in family holiday portraits. He always had a knack to gain the attention, smiles and giggles from the kids while taking their pictures. This also applied to the many nieces and nephews who grew up with Uncle Dave taking their pictures.
In the late 1980s, Dave found his way to Prior Lake and got back in the food and beverage business, including Freddy's on the Lake, the VFW, Viking Vending and others where he continued until his death.
Dave enjoyed movies and reading and was always up for a good game of cribbage. He also never missed an opportunity to cook some ribs, topped with his own recipe of BBQ sauce.
Dave is survived by a sister, two brothers, four nephews and three nieces. Steve Davidson (wife Sue) of Alexandria; Nancy Schmidt of Alexandria; and brother Jon Davidson (wife Sue) of Monkey Island, Okla.; nephews Travis Davidson (Tulsa, Okla.); Corey Schmidt (wife Megan – Alexandria); Jeremy Schmidt (wife Bobbi – Custer, S.D.); Chad Wegner (wife Julie – Frisco, Texas); Ashley Davidson (Tulsa); Heidi Schmidt Ducato (husband Tony – Jenks, Okla.); Shelly Davidson Soltis (husband Jack – Grand Rapids).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aldon and Arlene Davidson, both of Redwood Falls.
