Nancy LaVonne (Peters) Braam Obituary
Nancy L. Braam, 77, of Mankato, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato, after a four year battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Woodland Hills Chapel in Mankato with Rev. John Michel, officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Visitation will be Friday afternoon from 12 p.m. until the hour of services at Woodland Hills Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.
Nancy LaVonne was born January 17, 1941 to Louis and Nellie (Irwin) Peters in Walnut Grove. She attended Mankato Area Schools. On October 21, 1969 she was united in marriage to Gerald F. Braam in Mankato. For 31 years Nancy and Gerald owned and operated Riverbend Sod Co. in Mankato. Nancy also managed and volunteered at Echo Food Shelf in Mankato and served on the board of directors for many years. She was also employed as a service cook at Jackpot Junction Casino for 14 years.
Nancy's faith was very important to her. She was a long-time member of Grace Baptist Church in Mankato and was proud to be baptized by Rev. John Michel. Nancy was also a lifetime member of the Morson-Ario VFW Post #9713 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a spectacular mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her sons, Todd (Amy) Braam of Mankato, Jerry (Anna) Braam of Elysian, Gregory Braam of Jordan; daughter, Karen Goins of Mankato; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Dorothy) Peters of White Bear Lake; sister, Marcella (James) Timmerman of Mankato; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald March 1, 2006; brother, Melvin Peters; sister and Beverly Guentzel.
