Doris Mizzelle Harris

Mrs. Doris Mizzelle Harris, 91, went to meet the good Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Harris, a native of Georgia, was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary Mizzelle. She lived her early life in the Winterville community and had made her home in Greenville since 1951. She was employed with J C Penney for 20 years. She was a member of the Winterville Baptist Church, and former member and treasurer of both the Silver Stream Council #48 Degree of Pocahontas in Winterville and the VFW Auxiliary, where she also served as vice president.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Kimberly Lynn; and infant grandson, Jeffrey Lyle; and her husband of 66 years, John Guy Harris Jr. in 2012.
She is survived by her daughter, Llewellyn Harris McGowan and husband, Carlyle, of Greenville; grandson, Kevin Carlyle McGowan; granddaughter, Robin McGowan Brown; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Danielle Bland, Joshua McGowan; great-great-granddaughter, Jaelyn Nicole Hope; and a sister, Maxine Moore, of Greenville.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Robin Adams, all the staff at Ayden Court Nursing Home, and the staff of Community Hospice.
