Herman E. "Buddy" Hill

NEW BERN - Herman E. "Buddy" Hill, 76, died Monday, March 11, 2013. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Hill was born on the Webb Farm in the Pactolus community of Pitt County to the late Herman E. and Julia Harper Hill. After graduating from High School in May 1954, he joined the United States Air Force, retiring with over 22 years of service. He worked part time for eight months at Seymour Johnson AFB in the warehouse in the commissary, and in 1978 started at Cherry Point as a W-4 warehouse person and retired in 1991 as GSII after 13 years. He worked for 3 years with Avis, National, and Hertz as mover of rental cars to different locations, and from 1995 – 2003 he worked for Enterprise Car Rental.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Charles Hill; sister, Margie.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda "Lou" Hardee Hill; sons, James Hill of Goldsboro, John Hill and wife, Kelly, of Dudley, and Jeffery Hill and wife, Alice, of Bartlett, Tenn.; grandchildren, Julia, Shawn and Jessica; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janie Hill Lute, of Greenville.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Greenville.
