Marvin Ray Whitehurst

On Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, Marvin Ray Whitehurst lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer at the Hospice House in Greenville. He was born June 15, 1942 and resided in Grimesland and Norfolk, Va. He loved to travel and read. Marvin was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of five years.
He is survived by his sister, Judy Tripp; son, Marvin R. Whitehurst Jr.; two daughters, Tammy Garris and husband, Jimmy, Peggy Sears and husband, Eric. Marvin had four grandchildren, Zack, Ashley, Nicholas, and Jim Jr. Marvin was cared for by his loving nephew, Gary Whitehurst in his final weeks. He donated his body to science to help study Pancreatic Cancer.
There will be a memorial service at the home of Tammy Garris, 3702 Clarks Farm Rd., Greenville, at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
