WINTERVILLE - Mr. Corbett W. Joyner, 72, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Joyner, a lifelong resident of Pitt County, served in the U.S. Navy. Following his naval service, he worked as a barber and was also employed with Burroughs-Wellcome for many years, retiring in 1995. He was a charter member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. For 19 years, he was a member of the Anchors Southern Gospel Quartet.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Paramore Joyner; and a brother, Frederick Jefferies.
Surviving are his wife, Faye Smith Joyner; daughter, Kim J. Smith and husband, Steve, of Winterville; son, Kevin S. Joyner and wife, Catrin, of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Hannah Moore and Lydia, Abigail, Philip, Simeon and Knox Joyner; and a sister, Martha Ross, of Wilmington.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the mausoleum prior to the service and other times at the home.
