The Garrett Family will be in my prayers. Mr. Garrett was an inspiration to all who knew him. He always called me "a professional lady". Not because of any degrees or great at any special trade. But he always told me, people recieve you for how you present yourself. I'll miss him in the Democratic Meetings.

To Mrs. Garrett, DD Jr, and Michael,

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. "DD".
North Carolina has lost a greatly an admired citizen. His shoes will be hard to fill.

I grew up on East First St. and Mr. " D.D." was my neighbor on East Second St. Then known as "Downtown" area. DD Jr. was my classmate

Mr. DD, as we all affectionately called him, was a force to be reckoned with. Mr. Garrett spoke out about un- just social situations while others looked the other way and he did it with such grace and aplomb.

Mr. DD, was a "GG" that's a Gentle Giant of a man and he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

To the family, just keep him in your thoughts and prayers, as I will do for you also.
Remember to just hold on to God's unchanging hands for he never makes a mistake.

RIP (Rest in Peace)

Mr. Garrett was a friend of the Demery family. He often assisted us through our career paths. We were fortunate enought to have the opportunity to enjoy the stories of his accounting business and how he managed the challenges of life. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. His legacy continues.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I enjoyed the stories Mr. Garrett use to tell me about my grandmother and my dad. He said every year they would come in with this big greasy brown paper bag with every thing they had purchased to be used for tax purpose. He help my father mom to get her first social security check. Grandmom died 1961 at the age of 86.Thanks for all you have done for this family. Garrett family, I promise you things will get better with time. God promised he will return to receive that which he has loaned us; thank him for that time he allowed you to spend with him. In time he will turned all those sad memories into sweet, sweet memories and you will smile your way through when you think of him. GOD BLESS.

God places us all for a reason and a season; D.D. found his reason and made every attempt to impart that knowledge to all with whom he came in contact by the means necessary. He had the unique gift of sizing a person up and delivering exactly what was needed at that time. He was successful in life because he led by example, paid attention, made learning and loving a daily experience. He never lost faith in God, himself nor justice in this weary world. He will be sorely missed.

Mrs Garrett, DD jr, and Michael,
Take comfort in knowing that your loss has impacted the total community. As a brother in Omega, Brother Garrett exemplified to the fullest the Cardinal Principles of the Fraternity as a husband, a father, a community activist, as a business leader, and as a role model. He has worn many hats and has travelled many unchartered miles earning a well-deserved rest. Thanks for allowing him to share his life with us.

God will walk with you during this difficult period and time will help to ease the pain.
