ROBERSONVILLE â€" James Leighton Croom, 93, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 27, 2013, at DePaul Hospital in Norfolk, Va.

Leighton was a World War II Navy veteran, a machinist with the civil service, and after many years of serving his country in the Tidewater area, he retired to his hometown of Robersonville where he enjoyed golfing and serving as an elder in the Gold Point Christian Church.
Leighton is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joyce; and his three daughters, Loyce Lee Farley and husband Jerry; Bonnie Burke and husband Charles, and Judith Land and husband James. He was proud of his seven grandchildren, James Farley, Jeffery Farley, Rhonda Armstrong, Brandi Rood, Ashley Land, Camron Land, Jenine Lane and adored his seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may join the family at Biggs Funeral Home in Robersonville for visitation at 1 p.m. Monday with services beginning at 2 p.m. A graveside service will follow at the Martin Memorial Gardens in Williamston. In lie of flowers, the family wishes that memorial donations be sent to the Gold Point Christian Church, Atten: Janie Roberson, P.O. Box 758, Robersonville, NC 27871.
