WILLIAMSTON - Nellie Gurganus Ambrose, 87, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at The Brian Center in Windsor.

The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Harrison and the Rev. Bobby Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Ambrose was the daughter of the late John S. and Hollie Rogers Gurganus. In 1983, she retired as a supervisor from Carolina Telephone Co. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Noah Gurganus, John Gurganus, Joseph Gurganus, Benjamin Gurganus, Mickey Gurganus and Bobby Gurganus.
Survivors are her son, Kenneth Ambrose, and his wife, Willie, of Williamston; grandchildren, John David Ambrose and Kendal Shepherd, both of Williamston; step-grandchildren, Debbie Brown of Charlotte and Stephanie Parks of Canada; step-great-grandchildren, Stephen Hopkins of Canada and Kelly Brown of Charlotte; and a dear friend, Ann Gurganus of Williamston.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. today at Biggs Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 301 E. Vance St. Arrangements by Biggs Funeral Home.
