Stanley Maurice Walter

GREENVILLE - Stanley Maurice Walter, age 90, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Cypress Glen retirement community from heart failure.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Stanley was the son of Iva Mae and Henry Stanley Walter.

After serving in the Korean War, he attended Butler for 2 years and graduated from Lincoln College in 1954 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. In 1954, he met and married Helen Ruth Freeman and moved to Greenville, NC. That union produced their 3 children; Marc, Kristi and Jeri. He established a Chiropractic practice which continued until his retirement in 1992.

He was a member of St. James Church and sang in the choir for 54 years. After retirement, he played the trumpet with Emerald City Big Band, sang in the Community Pops Chorus, and played Trumpet in the Tar River Community Band. He was also very active in the Senior Olympics. However, the hobby he was most noted for was his creative woodworking, which won many awards in the senior games and is still used at St. James Church and homes of family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his sister, parents, and dear wife, Helen.

He is survived by 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
