William Earl Chauncey went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 28, 2013. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Entombment will be in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Chauncey was born on Feb. 18, 1930 in Grimesland. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with White's Concrete, retiring after 40 years of service.
On March 23, 1953 he married Mildred Sawyer of Fountain and they were married for 32 years. He was married to Doris Gurganus on July 4, 1993, and they were married for 20 years.
He was an avid and loyal NASCAR fan.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Chauncey in 1985; four sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Gurganus Chauncey; daughters, Kay Lloyd and husband, Larry, and Diane Pollard and husband, Danny; stepchildren, Debbie Edmundson and husband, Mike, Nancy Cherry and husband, Craig, Wanda Ross and husband, Thomas, and Ward Gurganus and wife, Chris; grandchildren, David Lloyd and wife, Amber, Ashley Lloyd and Danielle Pollard; great-grandchildren, Alexis Lloyd and Lauren Lloyd; step-grandchildren, Steven Cherry, Michael Singleton and wife, Nikki, Faith Verma and husband, Krish, Leonard Gurganus III and Courtney Ross; and special friend, his dog, Kosha.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home tonight from 6 – 8.
