AYDEN - Mary Alice Dail Skinner, 95, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Golden Living Center of Greenville.
Mrs. Skinner was born in Greene County to Charlie and Subie Ida Dail. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Skinner Jr. In addition to her husband, Ms. Skinner was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Skinner was a member of Little Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she was the oldest living member. During her earlier days, she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to being a housewife, she was a caregiver and enjoyed working with flowers.
She is survived by her children, Alice Faye Wainright and husband, Fred, of Winterville, Donald Skinner and wife, Sue, of Ayden, Penny Witherington and husband, Allen, of Newport; three grandchildren, Karen Jacobs and husband, Jake, of Winterville, Keith Wainright and wife, Sandra, of Winterville and Ashley Witherington of Lynchburg, Va. She also had four great-grandchildren; Tucker Jacobs, Bryson Jacobs, Kaleb Wainright and Kathryn Wainright.
Memorial service 7 p.m. Wednesday at Little Creek OFWB Church. Family will receive friends after the service at the church and other times at the home of her daughter, Alice Faye Wainright, 3112 Speight Seed Farm Road, Winterville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Creek OFWB Church, in care of Johnny McLawhorn, 2469 Stocks-McLawhorn Road. Hookerton, NC 28528.
