Rosemary Chastain Myers, 91, of the Cypress Glen Retirement Community and formerly of La Grange, peacefully passed away Friday, May 30, 2014. Rosemary was born March 16, 1923, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Edward Stanhope Chastain and Gertrude Hyatt Chastain. Rosemary was wife of the late Sidney Jones Myers, Jr. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years alongside her husband and was a longtime active member of La Grange Christian Church. Rosemary was a founding member of the La Grange Garden Club and was a former Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed long walks, swimming, bridge and was a helluva good cook. She worked many years for the Lenoir County Board of Elections at the Mosley Hall Polling Station and has given countless amounts of blood to the American Red Cross. Her most significant role in life and what she did best was being a loving mother and grandmother.

A committal service will be held today at 9 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. from La Grange Christian Church. Rosemary is survived by four children, Mary Ava Myers Johnson and husband, Ed, of Advance, Sidney Jones Myers III and wife, Vicki, of La Grange, Edward Chastain Myers and wife, Barbara, of Beaufort and Sue Taylor Myers Fordham and husband, Jeff, of Pikeville; along with six grandchildren, Davidson Myers and wife, Lisa, Taylor Myers and fiancÃ©, Jenny Snow, Rosemary Johnson, Edward Johnson, Sam Myers and Patrick Moore.
